At midday on Tuesday, after completing the first training session of the week, Álvaro Rodríguez and Adu Ares spoke to the media present in the press room of the Ipurua Stadium during their official presentation as new players of SD Eibar. During the press conference, which was attended by César Palacios, the sporting director of the team, and their families, they explained the reasons that led them to sign for the club.

César Palacios: «Today we present Álvaro Rodríguez, who comes from Albacete. He has great experience in the Second Division. We knew him very well, he was on our radar, and as soon as we saw that he could be an option for the right-back position, we didn’t hesitate. He wanted to come, and his enthusiasm was very important to us. Also, Adu Ares. He comes from Athletic Club, although he spent last season on loan at Real Zaragoza. He is a winger, and we wanted a player with power, speed, and verticality, and I believe that with his youth, he can help us improve a lot. These two additions make us more complete».

Joining SD Eibar:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «It was quite simple. My time at Albacete had ended, and when the opportunity came up, it was quick and easy. Everyone in the league knows Eibar and respects it a lot. I’ve seen what it’s like as a visitor, and now I’m really looking forward to enjoying it as a home player».

Adu Ares: «When you come here as a visitor, you quickly realize how passionate the fans are and what the club represents. I didn’t have many doubts».

Contributing to the team:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «I will try to contribute in whatever is asked of me. In the end, I came here with the utmost humility. I’ve made myself available to the coaching staff to help in whatever they need. I believe I have certain skills, and I hope to make the most of them in this team and in whatever the coach asks of me, in any position».

Adu Ares: «I’m a winger, a very, very vertical player, and I think I can contribute a lot on the wing to the team».

Team reception:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «Everyone I’ve spoken to from outside, my friends, my family, who ask me how the first days have been, honestly, I haven’t had any complaints. From the very first moment, people have treated me very well in the locker room. It’s a very healthy locker room with very nice people. When you come as a visitor or from outside, that’s the perception of Eibar, that it’s a bit like a family, and honestly, since I arrived, I’ve felt very integrated from the first moment. I’m very happy».

Adu Ares: «The people have really welcomed me very well. From the very first moment, they’ve received me in the best possible way, and as I’ve told them and conveyed to them, I’m here to help them, as much as they can help me».

Areitio:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «Areitio is amazing, honestly. What I’ve said is that I hadn’t encountered anything like it before, except for when I’ve played in Valdebebas. I haven’t been anywhere of that quality. Honestly, Areitio is amazing. I think the club has made very good use of the years it spent in higher divisions and has built facilities that will remain for the club and are impressive».

Adu Ares: «I come from Lezama, where we also had very, very good facilities, but I didn’t expect to find this. Honestly, I’ve been pleasantly surprised».

Versatility:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «The winger position is one where I don’t feel very out of place. It’s true that for several seasons now, I’ve mainly been playing as a full-back, which is clearly my original position, but it’s also true that in my younger years, I spent many years playing up front. If the coach thinks I need to contribute in that position due to any game context, I’m perfectly capable and eager to do so».

Career path:

Álvaro Rodríguez: «I think it doesn’t make sense for me to be who I am today without what I’ve been through before, nor for my family, who have been and are here today and have been with me through all those steps. For those who see me day to day, in the end, I’m an Eibar player, and they will evaluate me for what I do at Eibar, not for what I’ve done before. That’s why I’m here. I’m not here to talk about what happened before, which I’m very proud of, but I’m here to contribute to Eibar, and that’s what I’m focused on».

Attacking profile:

Adu Ares: «As César said, I’m here to contribute wherever the coach needs me. But I think, as I’ve already told him, that I feel more comfortable on the left wing. However, I have no problem playing on the right, on the left, or in the middle. The coach will decide where I can help the team the most».

A commitment to the present and future:

Adu Ares: «I’m a man of few words. In the end, I have to repay César, the coach, and the club for the trust they’ve placed in me on the field, which is the best way to return that trust».

Debut at Ipurua:

Adu Ares: «I’m really looking forward to playing on the field, playing here, at home. Experiencing what Ipurua is like as a home player and looking forward to playing my first minutes in this jersey».

Álvaro Rodríguez: «Likewise, I’m really looking forward to playing as a home player at Ipurua. Above all, to start showing the fans what the team wants to be. They already saw it the other day in Málaga. Hopefully, little by little, we can show it in the best way possible, especially at home, so that the people who come are proud of us and that we can give them reasons to support us when we need it».
