Kike García "We have to make Ipurua into a fortress, we hope to get the three points and regain our confidence"

The striker spoke to the press after this morning's training session at Atxabalpe

Speaking to the media gathered at Atxabalpe, Kike García revealed his satisfaction at having opened his account for the season, "On a personal level, after having scored my first goal - which I'd been after for a quite a while - I'm more relaxed and I was happy, but given how the game panned out, with us letting the two points slip, that feeling changed. We've now got another home game in which to make amends, we have to make Ipurua into a fortress, we hope to get the three points and regain our confidence".

When quizzed about the good relationship he has with coach, José Luis Mendilibar, the striker had the following to say: "The gaffer has given me a lot of confidence and I'm grateful to him for that because he's really making use of the entire squad. We give him a tough time in terms of team selection with what we do in training and it's a struggle for him to name the side. That's good for the team and it's reflected in our strong performances in the games at the weekends".

This morning the whole squad trained in what was a high-intensity session. As García noted, "In truth, there's a lot of competition for places this season, we're all available to play and that's a good thing for the gaffer, we're a good group with a great vibe and we accept the coaches' decisions".

Ahead of Sunday's clash against Villarreal at Ipurua, the Armeros' striker expressed his confidence in the hosts' chances of claiming victory, "We'll have to be strong defensively, we know that we're up against a side that's played in the Champions League this season, but we've already played some other strong sides and have been up to the task. We're counting on the backing of our fans at Ipurua and confident of putting in a good performance to take all three points".
