Iván Alejo: I'm excited to be here and am raring to earn a place in the side

The Valladolid-born midfielder has penned a deal until 2021

Iván Alejo was today unveiled as an SD Eibar player after putting pen to paper on a deal which runs until 2021. Speaking at his unveiling, the winger declared that he is excited to have joined the Armeros and is "raring to earn a place in the side".

Eibar's latest recruit, who joins the club from AD Alcorcón, insisted that despite having more offers, he plumped for Eibar because they were "the first to express an interest in me" and on account of the club's commitment to securing his services.

"I'm really looking forward to working with a coach of Mendilibar's standing, he's a really fine coach. I'm from Valladolid myself and have heard a lot of good things about him from people who worked with him when he coached Valladolid".

"I really like Ipurua because it has an English feel to it and I can't wait to play here. I was out and about in Eibar yesterday and I sensed that there is a strong footballing vibe here".

The club's director of football, Fran Garagarza, explained that Alejo is "a player who can operate in two roles and has great potential".

"He's hungry and is a powerful and quick player. He's got the qualities that we need here. We've been to watch him 15 times". Garagarza expressed "massive" thanks to Alcorcón for the way in which they have conducted themselves throughout the negotiations.

For her part, the club's president, Amaia Gorostiza, stated that,"Signing Iván is yet another clear indication of the club's investment in the future, a process which began last year and which is enabling us to plan not just for the coming season but future campaigns too".

“Right now, we have 20 first-team players, plus those who are currently out on loan at Segunda División clubs. If we want to establish this project in Primera División, which is our aim, we need to make strong, long-term signings and the signing of Iván certainly falls into that category", she added.
