Ipurua plays host to FEAFV Liga Solidaria veterans' tournament

A total of 10 sides contested 15 games on the adjoining training pitch at Ipurua

Saturday 11 March saw the adjoining training pitch at Ipurua host the FEAFV (Spanish Federation of Veteran Footballers' Associations) Liga Solidaria veterans' tournament, which featured 15 participating teams.

In total, 10 sides took part in the competition, which involved 10 fixtures, corresponding to three Liga Solidaria matchdays. The event, organised by the SD Eibar Foundation, was sponsored by Eibar City Council in collaboration with El Corte Inglés and the local food bank.

The SD Eibar Veterans' succumbed to defeat in each of their three outings, against Atlético Osasuna (5-2), Athletic Club (3-1) and Real Sociedad (3-0).

A large number of supporters descended on the adjoining training pitch for the morning's games, including SD Eibar coach José Luis Mendilibar and several members of the first-team squad.

One man who played a more active role in proceedings was the Armeros' assistant coach, Iñaki Bea, who turned out for Real Valladolid, a club he represented in Primera during his playing days.
