Humanitarian aid effort for Peru takes centre stage at Ipurua
The Peruvian Consul and representatives from the NGO, Egoaizia, took their places in the VIP area for the UD Las Palmas game
The humanitarian aid effort for Peru to offer relief after the flooding in Pirua took centre stage during yesterday's game between SD Eibar and UD Las Palmas at Ipurua.
The gate from the fixture has been donated to the cause in an effort to reduce the impact of the humanitarian disaster, along with the funds raised by the Fila Cero (Row Zero) scheme which was launched for this match.
The generosity of the Eibar locals was particularly worthy of note, with only 250 unsold tickets for this midweek fixture. Meanwhile, a large number of donations were made through the Fila Zero initiative, which was rolled out for this game.
The Peruvian Consul in the Basque Country, Minister Pedro Buitrón, took his place in the presidential box, where he passed on the Peruvian government's thanks to the club's president for its contribution to the humanitarian aid effort.
Furthermore, the club welcomed two representatives from the NGO, Egoaizia, the organisation tasked with distributing the aid, to personally thank them for the 14 years in which they have been involved in cooperation projects in the Peruvian region of Piura. The two representatives from the Eibar-based NGO were Leire Gandiaga and Neli Arretxe.
SD Eibar wish to pass on their thanks for all of the shows of affection which have come from Peru, both from the local population via social media, the national government and the country's diplomatic representatives.
