The Eibar coach stresses that "we're short of players, but we're not going to make excuses"
Gaizka Garitano has assured that his team is "very competitive" and will have to "adapt to the situation we're in" due to the accumulation of injuries and suspensions.
In the press conference prior to Friday’s match at Ipurua (21:00) against Villarreal B, the Armeros' coach stressed that "we've been missing players for three weeks, especially in some positions, but we're not going to make excuses".
ABSENCES
"We won the other day, but the collateral damage was significant. In such a long season things always happen to you and we've been missing players for three weeks now, especially in some positions, but we're not going to make excuses, we have to rebuild as best we can and make a competitive team for tomorrow [Friday]."
"We have 14-15 first team outfield players, we have to adapt players who don't usually play in certain positions and who have been training for three weeks in those positions because we are missing players there. The other day with 10 players for 50 minutes and no full-backs we were able to win. This team is good at that, it is very competitive and we have to adapt to the situation we are in.”
OPTIMISM
"We can reach a good level, I am optimistic, we have to change some things in our way of playing. Not having full-backs makes you change some things, the most important thing is to adapt to the situation you have, not make excuses, move forward and work to recompose the team in these moments when we have many problems to put together an 11 that resembles Eibar."
"We're really looking forward to playing at Ipurua. We lost the other day after many months without losing and we want to turn it around, give the victory back to our fans and stay in the top positions."
DEFENSE
"The other day with 10 players and everyone out of place we defended incredibly well. More than in defence, the absences impact us in attack because our full-backs have a lot of influence in attack, we push them very high and in that way we have to vary some things."
"In terms of the defensive block we hope to continue to be solid, just as we are, and continue to be serious, knowing that this type of team is unlike others that come to Ipurua to close themselves off and not want to play. We have to defend well and there will be times when we are going to suffer."
VILLARREAL B
"It's a reserve team with enormous quality, which has some players who are also with the first team, but that's not the problem, you know that a reserve team has players with quality who are going to play in the First Division. The problem is that they are well organised, they have been playing the same style for a long time, they have a lot of variants in ball distribution and they have worked a lot on set pieces. You combine quality with the fact that they are very well organised and play very good football."
LASURE
"He is a very experienced left back who has not played for some time due to various circumstances. He will come for a 15-day trial and we will see if he can help us or not and we will decide if he stays or not."
