Gaizka Garitano: Winning tomorrow would help end a bad run ahead of the exciting playoffs

The coach stated that “we want to win and start preparing for the promotion playoffs”.

Gaizka Garitano has stated that he wants his Eibar team “to win and start preparing for the promotion playoffs” this weekend.

In the press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to face SD Huesca (21:00 CEST), the coach of Los Armeros stressed that “winning tomorrow would help end a bad run and enter the playoffs in the best possible way”.

ON THE STATE OF THE TEAM

“The team is in good shape, but we want to win and start preparing for the promotion playoffs. Over the recent run, the first few days of the week have been tougher and then the last few days of the week are full of motivation to win the next game. That’s what always happens in football.”

ON THE IMPORTANCE OF WINNING

“It's important to win to change the dynamic of the results. Winning tomorrow would help end a bad run and help us enter the playoffs in the best possible way.”

ON HIS EVALUATION OF THE PAST FEW MATCHES

“It’s harder to accept that you were the better team but didn’t win than to accept the opposition was better than you. Apart from the game against Albacete, who were better, in the rest of the games our team was in position to win, but we didn’t win for one reason or another. The results are what matter. We want to put an end to our bad run and to end the regular season with a win to get as many points as possible and secure the best position ahead of the exciting playoffs for promotion.”

ON FACING SD HUESCA

“All matches are difficult. They will want to finish the league well too, by winning at home. In the second division there are no easy games, but we take it as just another game that we have to win.”

ON LUCK

“In football there are many conditioning factors and you can’t put the fact that you haven’t won down to just one thing. There are a lot of little things that influence a game. Football is about scoring goals and not conceding, and in between there are a lot of conditions, among which is having a bit more luck. But, you can’t put it down to not having been lucky. You have to try to improve other things as well so that you be at one hundred percent, and chance or luck is not one of those variables.”

ON CARDS AND SUSPENSIONS

“We have a lot of players with cards, but each one is in a different situation. There are some players that we have to reserve because there is no other player in that position and we can’t lose them for the playoffs. We have another player who has been injured for a long time and we need him to be at 100 percent and this match is very good for him to get some minutes. Each of the players with suspension concerns is in a different situation and we will have to reserve some of them.”
