Fran Rico: It's special to score on such a stage, but it wouldn't have meant anything had we not got something from the game
The Galician-born midfielder insisted that, "you've got to make the most of these moments because you just don't know when they'll come around again"
Following today's training session at Atxabalpe, Fran Rico spoke of how, "scoring on such a stage was a really special moment", before stressing that, "ultimately the important thing is the points and had we not got something from the game, the goal wouldn't have meant anything".
The Eibar midfielder struck to hand the Armeros an early lead, which ultimately saw the side come away from the Santiago Bernabéu with a point.
"As my goal was enough for us to get a point, I'm very happy. It's a very valuable point, but it won't mean anything if on Monday (17 October) we fail to get all three at home against one of our direct rivals. The key to it all lies in now beating Osasuna, that would represent an important step and it would put us in a really good position. If we do that, it'll turn this point, which was had to work very hard for, into an excellent one".
"I'd never got anything from the Bernabéu before. Last year, when I was at Granada, we nearly managed it and in previous season I've been on the receiving end of drubbings. That's why you've got to make the most of these moments because you just don't know when they'll come around again".
"We're making a great deal of what we did because it's tough to go there and put in good performances and came away with points, but, at the end of the day, it's a point and it's worth exactly the same at the Bernabéu as it is here at home. The Osasuna match is one that's in our mini-league, it's in those games that we have to perform well, continue the run of form we're on at Ipurua and go out looking for all three points".
