Fran Rico: It'll be a special game for me, but I'm going there looking to get the win
Sunday will see the ex-Granada midfielder return to his old stomping ground after having spent five years at the Andalusian club
Fran Rico, who last week joined SD Eibar on a loan deal following a five-year stint at Granada CF, today spoke about Sunday's trip to Los Cármenes, explaining that the game "will be a very special one for me", before stressing that, "I go there defending the colours of my new club and will be looking to get the win".
Speaking after training at Atxabalpe, Rico commented that, "I've only just come from there very recently and it'll be very special to face my former teammates and my old club".
"We know how Granada play and that they always like to play the ball out from the back and pressurise the man in possession, which makes it difficult to bring the ball out from the back. But with our football and the way the gaffer will set us up, I'm sure that we're capable of hurting them and that we can come away with the three points".
"I can certainly say that I left the club with a clear conscience. I gave my all over the five years during which I defended the club's colours, and I now go back there looking to win the game. I've got Eibar's best interests at heart and that's what I'm focused on right now".
When quizzed about how he is settling in to life at the club, Rico stated that "things are going very well. We've got a great dressing room and on the field we've got a very good squad too. The team already had a strong core, and with the new additions the squad has been improved and now has greater strength in depth. We're very competitive and we'll be looking to ensure that we stay up".
"Our aim is to retain our top-flight status for another season. All of the games are very tough, but I believe that this team is capable of staying up, and starting with the Granada game, we'll be going out to show that this is where we want to be and that we belong in this division".
