Football and the promotion of values, hand in hand between the Mexico School and SD Eibar Foundation
SD Eibar Foundation participates in this initiative, promoted by Juan Pablo Retolaza, a Basque-Mexican shareholder living in Zapopan (Jalisco) whose family come from Eibar
Football and the promotion of civic and human values go hand in hand in the Mexiko Eskola (Mexico School), an initiative that counts on the support and collaboration of SD Eibar Foundation and has been promoted by Juan Pablo Retolaza, a Basque-Mexican shareholder living in Zapopan (Jalisco State) whose family come from Eibar.
This programme counts on the explicit support of the city council of Zapopan, which has financed the construction of a playing field.
A total of 160 children from this Mexican locality close to the Pacific coast wear shirts with the Eibar emblem and receive the support of the Club in this laudable initiative. The shirts, adapted to a very “American” look, display on their back the values that have made Eibar unique in its 76 year history: humility, endeavour, dedication, solidarity…
These children live in a difficult social environment in a society where violence is part of their everyday lives, and it is precisely football and its associated values that try to change this dynamic and remove the stigma of violence from an area rich in Mexican culture, traditions and gastronomy.
Juan Pablo Retolaza, a lover of football and an enthusiastic follower and shareholder of the gunsmiths, intends Mexiko Eskola to foster the practice of this sport and to sow values like solidarity, respect and humility amongst the youngsters, in close collaboration with SD Eibar Foundation, applying the gunsmiths sporting methodology on the other side of the world.
