Eibar coach Joseba Etxeberria held a press conference on Thursday, ahead of the team’s next game, and declared that that he has reason to feel “optimistic”, though now the team must “show this in competitive action”.

At the press conference ahead of Saturday’s game at El Plantío against Burgos CF, the coach of Los Armeros also said that “the need to win” and “frustration” following recent defeats “will force us to be focused and alert”.

JOSEBA ETXEBERRIA’S PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

“I feel the team is getting better, even if we’re not winning, but the first step to achieving victories is playing well.”

“When you lose it’s always a tough blow, so we have to analyse what we’re doing. I think it’s obvious that the team took a step forward in the last game, but we know we need to win.”

“Seeing the improvement in our play and seeing how the players are working day to day, I have reason to feel optimistic and I think if we keep improving then we’ll take many points, but now we have to show this in competitive action.”

“Maybe the fact that we feel the need to win is good because it will force us to be focused and alert. The frustration will make us more competitive.”

“It’s about each player giving their best and then being a solid collective group as a team.”

“We view Saturday’s game as an opportunity. We know Burgos are a good team, especially at home, but we view this as an opportunity to demonstrate our improvement.”

“I think we’ve played a lot better a Ipurua than as an away team. It’s good that Ipurua is our fortress, but we need to play well away from home to climb the positions.”

“We need to have a competitive mentality to fight for every ball as if it were the last.”
