Eibar eliminated from the Copa de la Reina
Armeras go down 0-1 against Levante Las Planas in extra time
Eibar lost 1-0 to Levante Las Planas in the third round of the Copa de la Reina. The game was evenly matched from the outset, but the Armeras were denied the chance to stay in the competition by a single goal conceded in the first half-hour of extra time.
In the ninth minute, the opposition had their first clear chance of the game, but it was cleared off the line by Eider and turned into a corner kick that was saved by Amaia. Eibar also had several chances in the first half: one through a long pass from Kenni that Amu failed to finish, and another with a shot from Malado after a run against a rival defender that was saved by the Levante Las Planas goalkeeper.
Despite the changes made by both teams, equality reigned throughout the match. In the second half, the Armeras had more chances but were unable to score and also defended their area well throughout.
In the 87th minute, Annelie shot at goal, but was unable to score the goal that would have given the Armeras the victory and avoided extra time. They were even able to take two corner kicks in the last few minutes that would have brought them closer to scoring again, but both were cleared by the Catalans.
Extra time began with a shot on goal by Eibar, only just saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Finally, in the 108th minute, Levante Las Planas scored the goal that ended the Armeras' adventure in the Copa de la Reina.
Now it's time for the Armeras to prepare for the next Liga F match. They will face the fifth team in the standings, Atlético de Madrid, on Saturday at 12:00 in Alcalá de Henares.
