Eibar Women claim vital win to close in on fourth spot

The Armeras ran out 2-1 winners over Mulier at Unbe

The SD Eibar Women's first team secured an important win over Mulier at Unbe to move themselves closer to fourth place in Segunda Division.

The opening five minutes of the game saw the Navarrans go on the attack, but it wasn't long before the Armeras took control of proceedings in a first half which was rather short on clear goalscoring opportunities.

In contrast, the start of the second half featured far more goalmouth action. First up, Ana Mar unleashed an effort which flew over the top, after which Esti Arretxe forced a corner which Ainhoa Alonso scored directly from, with her perfect delivery finding the net to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

Only a few minutes had elapsed when Usoa Montoya sprayed the ball out to Esti, whose cross was met by Sara Tazo, who headed home to double the hosts' advantage.

Mulier pushed forward and they struck to halve the deficit as the visitors went on to enjoy their best spell of the game, in which they were only denied an equaliser by the width of the crossbar.  In the final minute, Alaine Marcos found herself clean through with only the goalkeeper to beat, but she contrived to send her effort narrowly wide of the upright as Eibar claimed a 2-1 victory.
