Eibar win 2-0 at Leganés to move within one point of the leaders

The goals from Nolaskoain and Bautista also mean Eibar have taken the head-to-head tiebreaker

Eibar visited league leaders Leganés on Sunday night and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Peru Nolaskoain and Jon Bautista, a result which also means they have taken the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Los Armeros played with one player less from 60 minutes on, due to a second yellow card for Juan Berrocal. That only made the victory by Joseba Etxeberria’s side all the more impressive.

The Eibar display was truly brilliant, as they dominated from early on and played in the opposition half.

However, the first clear-cut chance fell to the home side when, in the ninth minute, Diego García headed against the post following a neat attacking combination.

Shortly afterwards, in the 11th minute, the first goal arrived when Peru Nolaskoain turned in Matheus’ cross from the left following a corner.

Eibar stuck to their game plan and made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute, with Stoichkov producing a lovely assist to set up Jon Bautista, who scored with a low right-footed shot.

In the second half, Leganés were forced to take risks and this allowed Eibar to counter-attack dangerously.

Stoichkov had chances in the 51st and 57th minutes and Bautista had one in the 59th minute, but neither could put the game to bed.

In the 60th minute, Juan Berrocal picked up a second yellow card, which left Eibar a man down with half an hour to go.

Leganés tried to capitalise on their numerical advantage, but they came up against a strong Eibar defence and the visitors were able to hold on to their advantage, securing a vital three points.
