Eibar suffer comprehensive defeat in friendly clash against Osasuna

The Armeros slipped to a 4-0 reverse at Tajonar

SD Eibar succumbed to a heavy 4-0 defeat in their friendly game against CA Osasuna at Tajonar.

In Joaquín Caparrós's debut in the Rojillos dugout, Osasuna made the most of their chances, whilst Eibar enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked any real cutting edge.

With 10 minutes on the clock, the Navarrans were already firmly in the driving seat, following strikes from Miguel de las Cuevas and Emmanuel Rivière, with both goals catching the Eibar backline up the field.

José Luis Mendilibar's charges dominated the rest of the first half without creating any real danger apart from the odd chance and one thunderous direct free-kick effort from Bebé from outside the area which was well dealt with by Nauzet Pérez in the Osasuna goal.

Eibar continued to probe after the restart, but the hosts' high pressing game saw the Armeros unable to play the ball around, as the visitors failed to trouble the Osasuna goal.

In contrast, the Rojillos once again evidenced some clinical finishing when they made it 3-0 courtesy of a towering header from Tano, who connected with a corner from the left.

Shortly afterwards, Eibar had their clearest chance of the game when Adrián's powerful 75th-minute header came back of the upright. Ander Capa collected the rebound and drove into the area, but could only send his shot wide of the target.

With 10 minutes remaining, Osasuna completed the rout in a move which saw Javi Álamo get in behind the visitors' defence and tuck the ball past the advancing Yoel.

At the final whistle, José Luis Mendilibar expressed his disappointment at his side's display."We played as if this was a kick about and it's not what I expected. In the two previous friendly games against them we competed well. In this one, we came out asleep and although it seems as if we were enjoying possession and were doing something in the game, ultimately nothing comes of it".

"When they have six chances and score from four of them you're making some big mistakes. We can't allow this to happen. I don't care whether we win or lose, what I want is for us to compete and we didn't do that".
