Eibar squad return to training after Christmas break

Asier Riesgo trained as usual, whilst Fran Rico is making good progress with his recovery

The SD Eibar squad this afternoon returned to Atxabalpe and the routine of training, as their Christmas break, which began on 22 December, came to an end.

Today's session, which mainly involved physical exercises and a short spell of ball work in the form of a training game, saw Asier Riesgo train as usual after having recovered from the torn fibres in his right gluteus, an injury he suffered on 4 December in the clash against Athletic Club at San Mamés.

Elsewhere, Fran Rico is making good progress with his recovery from the stress fracture suffered to his right fibula and was today able to take part in the first part of the session out on the training pitches. Over the course of the coming days he is set to rejoin the group and is expected to resume normal training by the beginning of next week. Meanwhile, Iván Ramis continues with his recovery programme after fracturing the tibial malleolus in his left foot, which saw him undergo surgery on 5 December.

Dani García and Ander Capa missed today's session due to their involvement with the Euskal Selekzioa (Basque national team), as did Antonio Luna, who is today set to feature for the Andalusian national team, whilst Takashi Inui was granted permission to return to training tomorrow.

The squad are due to train tomorrow and on Saturday at Atxabalpe and will complete a gym, massage and recovery session on New Year's Eve at Ipurua, before returning to Atxabalpe on Monday to finalise their preparations ahead of Tuesday's Copa del Rey last-16 first-leg clash against Osasuna in Pamplona.
