Eibar slip to 3-0 defeat against Sevilla at Sánchez-Pizjuán

The Armeros failed to play their usual game in an encounter in which Sevilla were the better side throughout

Eibar failed to pick up a positive result from their trip to the Sánchez-Pizjuán, with the Armeros succumbing to a 3-0 reverse against Sevilla. At the start of the game, José Luis Mendilibar's charges succeeded in stifling the hosts as they sought to make inroads into the visitors' half, but as the clocked ticked on, the Sevillians managed to dominate in the middle third. Sevilla fired in several warning shots, but the Armeros held firm and managed to reach the half-time interval with the scores goalless.

After the restart, an early Ganso strike put Sevilla ahead, leaving Eibar with it all to do. Despite this setback, the Azulgranas kept plugging away, however, ultimately they barely managed to trouble Sergio Rico's goal. With 75 minutes gone, Wissam Ben Yedder tapped home to put the result beyond the visitors' reach, before Nolito struck the hosts' third of the afternoon to round off a comprehensive win.

The sour note from the afternoon's action came with the injury to Iván Alejo, who had to be stretchered off in the final stages of the first half after twisting his right knee. An update on his progress is expected over the course of the coming hours.
