Eibar ladies win big to earn three vital points

The 7-0 against Nuestra Señora de Belén places them a comfortable 8 points above the relegation zone

The Eibar women’s first team won by a crushing 7-0 margin against Nuestra Señora de Belén in Unbe on Saturday, earning them three points that put them eight above the relegation places with seven league games left in Group 2 of the Women’s Second Division.

The gunsmiths took control in the first minute and retained it throughout the game. In the 21st minute, the forward Irati Lazkano controlled the ball inside the area after an attack on the left wing and put it in the back of the back of the Burgos team’s goal. Despite the locals having more chances, the scoreline at half time was 1-0.

The second half began with Eibar looking to make the game safe as quickly as possible to avoid repeating the events of previous games.  In the 50th minute, Melani saw the visiting goalkeeper off her line and scored with a long-range shot.

If the gunsmiths were already superior, in the 56th minute came the decisive move. Following a clearance inside the area the ball fell to Irati Lazkano, who hit a powerful shot that was going in until a rival defender stopped the ball with her hand. A sending-off and a penalty, that  Melani took charge of converting.

From then on, with the game effectively decided and Eibar numerically superior, a succession of chances and goals led to a final result of 7-0. The two goals scored by Haizea Ribera (the fifth and seventh) were particularly emotive, with the player reappearing after having spent 5 months on the sidelines because of a knee injury.
