Eibar ladies left two minutes away from springing a surprise in Pamplona

Eibar conceded the 2-1 against Mulier, second in the table, in the 88th minute

The SD Eibar women’s first team was left two minutes away from springing a surprise in Tajonar, by conceding the goal that made it 2-1 in the 88th minute against Mulier FCN, the team that lies second in Group 2 of the Second Division.

The team from Navarre, playing for a play-off place for promotion to the highest tier, started the match with the desire to finish the game off as quickly as possible, and in the 7th minute they went ahead in a one-on-one against Iratxe, the keeper, who could do nothing to prevent Maid from scoring.

After the goal the game evened out and there were no clear-cut chances for either side until the break. A shot by Maitane Basterra that the keeper had some difficulty in stopping and a direct free kick by Melani were the armeros’ best chances against a home side that tried to play on the counter and sentence the game.

Thirty seconds after the restart, Ainhoa Alonso picked up a long ball and her low cross, initially touched by Haizea Lomba, was put away by Irati Lazkano.

From that moment on, both teams had clear goal-scoring opportunities. First Eibar had a double chance but the shot from outside the area by Ainhoa Larrus hit the crossbar and on the rebound, Haizea Lomba, from a good position sent the ball wide. A few minutes later, in a counter attack, Ainhoa Alonso was outside the area with the keeper to beat and hit a lob shot that went wide.

The home side also had their chances, such as the free kick that hit the crossbar and a one-on-one that Iratxe the keeper saved easily. After some dangerous free kicks taken in midfield by the home side, in the 88th minute they hit a corner toward the far post and Miriam, almost unopposed, scored the goal to make it 2-1, which left the Eibar players without reward having disputed a good game.
