Eibar held to goalless draw by Deportivo in a game they deserved more from

The Armeros enjoyed the better chances but lacked a clinical streak

Eibar and Deportivo played out a goalless stalemate in the sides' LaLiga Matchday 8 encounter.  The home side gradually got themselves on top and their first chance came when Kike García broke into the visitors' box and unleashed a shot, which was palmed behind by Francis. Meanwhile, Deportivo themselves also squandered several chances in the opening half an hour.   The two teams went on to trade the upper hand in a first half which ended goalless.

After the restart, the home side took command of proceedings and began to pin Deportivo back into their own half.   Eibar were now enjoying their best spell of the game as they kept plugging away in search of a breakthrough. Gonzalo Escalante and Sergi Enrich both had chances to have broken the deadlock, but the visitors' defenders and goalkeeper intervened to thwart them.

In the closing stages and with the backing of the Ipurua faithful, Eibar very nearly forged ahead from a set piece. In injury time the referee ruled out an Enrich effort for offside to deny the home side from taking the spoils.

The sour note of the afternoon came with the injury to Iván Ramis, who had to be replaced after an accidental clash in which a Deportivo player landed on the Eibar defender's left knee.
