SD Eibar has concluded an intense January in the Second Division, with results that have marked a step forward in their performance. After starting the month on the edge of the relegation zone, the team has climbed to 16th place, with a 4-point advantage over the danger zone, showing notable progress in defensive solidity and competitiveness.

The month began with a victory at Ipurua against Mirandés (2-1), a match that allowed the team to continue the end of 2025 with vital points. However, the following matchday brought a setback in Burgos (1-0).

The team responded with a valuable point away against Granada (0-0), consolidating their ability to keep a clean sheet, and closed the month with a characterful victory against Almería (1-0). This last triumph was a demonstration of principles and faith: the team managed to nullify a great rival and capitalize on the best opportunities, scoring the decisive goal in the final moments of the match.

Additionally, the month has left a noteworthy statistic and evidence of the progress made in the long journey of LaLiga Hypermotion: in the last six league matches, Eibar has conceded only 2 goals, being the team in First and Second Division with the best defensive record in that period. A step forward that highlights the team's improvement in balance and competitiveness.

  • Matches played: 4

  • Wins: 2 | Draws: 1 | Losses: 1

  • Goals scored: 4 | Goals conceded: 2

  • League position: 16th

Looking ahead to February:

After a challenging January, February offers no respite: on Sunday, February 1, they will host Sporting de Gijón at Ipurua at 4:15 PM. Then comes a visit to Zaragoza's modular stadium, hosting the leader Racing de Santander, and a trip to Riazor. January has left good feelings, and February is shaping up to be demanding and decisive for consolidating principles and continuing to earn vital points.

First women's team:

Iñaki Goikoetxea's team returned to competition on the weekend of January 11 in Lorca. They achieved their first victory of 2026 against a direct rival, something that has eluded them against top-table opponents but is truly important for their main objective.

Thus, despite starting with a win in the following matchday, on January 17 they lost against Madrid CFF 1-3 and also in the Gipuzkoa derby against a Real Sociedad team eyeing the Champions League. These last two defeats, combined with the competitiveness shown by surrounding teams, have caused Eibar to drop three places in the league table, now sitting in 13th place.

Despite everything, the team is showing notable offensive improvement, as (although the streak was broken in the last matchday), they had scored in five consecutive matches, netting 7 goals, 5 of them in the league: half of their total in the 17 matches played so far.
