Eibar draw in the Basque derby (1-1)

The "armeros" add a point although they deserve more

Eibar have drawn against Athletic on the ninth game week of the league. The los armeros had dominated from start to finish, but have not managed to impose on the result and have finished adding a point. Charles took the team to lead in the first half from the penalty spot, but Athletic were not slow in reacting and Williams then prevented the three points for Eibar at home.

Mendilibar had set one of the best games so far this season and has been superior to his rival. The eibarreses have imposed a high pace of play and in the minute eight had already approached the goal defended by Herrerín clearly. Diop's right hand from the front had gone high. However, in the next local danger action, the referee declared a penalty on Enrich after reviewing the VAR. Charles scored the penalty with the utmost elegance.

But the joy lasted little for the Eibar, since minutes later the Athletic managed to equalize the contest. Williams took advantage of an Aduriz header to beat Risk by low. The gunsmiths did have a fantastic reaction and continued paddling to get ahead again on the scoreboard. The final stretch of the first half was a local siege, with great chances for Enrich, De Blasis and Ramis, but the ball failed to enter past the Bilbao goal.

In the resumption, the team of Eibar continued pushing the rival to the point of getting into their own area. The players had to pull their patience to reach the rival goal with danger. However, they enjoyed numerous occasions for this. A double intervention by Herrerín had prevented Eibar from getting back in front. And minutes later, the goal had had to show off to get a providential hand to Ramis's header.

The Eibar had rushed their options to get the three points to the end, but despite the attempts, they failed to return ahead of the visiting goal, which finally managed to rescue a point.
