Diop: "We want to keep the good performances coming and get the three points"

The Armeros' midfielder revealed that he was happy with his debut appearance at Ipurua and now "can't wait for Monday to come around"

Speaking today to the press gathered at SD Eibar's Atxabalpe training ground, Pape Diop, who last Saturday made his club debut at Ipurua, declared that the side are keen to "keep the good performances coming" and claim maximum points in Monday's clash against Málaga CF at Ipurua (21:00 kick-off).

The Armeros' midfielder insisted that "as a team we have great potential". "I felt really comfortable with the fans. The defeat was a disappointment and we deserved more from it, at least a draw, but we just didn't get that luck you need."

"It was a good debut performance and we can't wait for Monday to come around to go out and get the points we didn't get the other day. We finished very strongly against Atlético Madrid and that always gives you a boost going into your next game".

"Our aim is to stay up, and when we're safe we'll then start dreaming of what we can achieve".

When quizzed about Málaga, for whom new coach José González will be overseeing his first game, Diop stated that: "We know that a change of manager often gives teams a lift. We'll be trying to get on top right from the off, look to make a strong start, whilst being aware that they're a side that are in real need of the points. We'll try and give our all".

"There's a lot of competition for the midfield places in every team. I was aware of that. I want to play and offer all that I can every time I'm picked to play. The most important thing is that the team is doing well and that every player does a good job".

With regards to José Luis Mendilibar, who he played under at Levante UD, Diop said: "I already knew him". "I know what he's like, how he works and just how demanding he is".

"Eibar is a good club and they're making a good job of things here. The club has earned respect throughout La Liga and Europe. I've been in the top flight for 10 years now and I know how each of the clubs work. You can tell when things are being done in the right way".
