An important 2-0 victory to end the bad run
Goals from Stoichkov and Arbilla earn all three points for Eibar against Racing Ferrol
A goal scored by Stoichkov in the first half and another from Arbilla in the second half earned Eibar an important 2-0 win over Racing Ferrol, a result which snaps the run of disappointing results in recent fixtures.
At the beginning of the game, Los Armeros found it difficult to create danger against a compact Racing side with few cracks in their lines. In fact, the visitors had a good chance in the fourth minute, but Luca managed to save from Carlos Vicente when he was through one-on-one after a counter.
From the 20th minute onwards, Eibar began to find ways to break through their opponents’ lines. In the 22nd minute, Stoichkov came close to scoring with a right-footed shot that went over from Aketxe's corner.
Then, three minutes later, Stoichkov did convert to make it 1-0, doing so with a low finish after being assisted by Matheus.
In the second half, Eibar remained in control of the game and made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute thanks to Anaitz Arbilla turning in from inside the six-yard box at an Unai Vencedor corner.
Etxeberria’s side were able to carry that lead to the end and could even have increased it. With this victory, they’re lifted out of the relegation places.
