REPORT. Eibar keep their faith and secure comeback win against Levante (3-1)

Goals from Corpas, Stoichkov and Bautista secured victory for the Armeros

Eibar overcame the misfortune of a 1-0 deficit in the first half to secure a comeback win against Levante (3-1), with goals from Corpas (penalty), Stoichkov and Bautista.

The Armeros started fiercely and came close to scoring in the first minute of the game with a double chance from Sergio Álvarez and Stoichkov, which Andrés Fernández denied with a fisted clearance under the bar.

Eibar dominated the game and regularly surrounded their opponents' area in search of a goal. By the 20th minute, the home side had taken six corners and the number of corners had risen to nine by half-time.

The opening goal would go to Levante, however, and in the 32nd minute, when a mistake left Dani Gómez alone in front of Luca and he beat him with a cute chip.

In stoppage time of the first half, a penalty for a handball by Álex Valle was taken advantage of by Jose Corpas, who scored a right-footed penalty, deceiving the goalkeeper to level the score. The goal came with a special dedication due to the recent paternity of the goal scorer.

Etxeberria's team continued to dominate at the start of the second half and they got ahead in the 53rd minute. Cristian's fine wing action was finished off by Stoichkov with a hard and accurate header into the top corner.

The goal did Eibar the world of good, as they dominated the game and attacked dangerously, winning the ball back aggressively throughout.

In the 73rd minute, it was 3-1. Stoichkov capitalized on a mistake to get in front of the goalkeeper and back-heel the ball to Jon Bautista, who scored with his left foot.

Eibar refused to relinquish control of the game and could have scored more. The victory was celebrated in style by the players and a spectacular crowd at Ipurua, who never stopped cheering throughout the game.
