A clearly improving Eibar secured their second consecutive win, securing a 2-1 victory away at Cartagena thanks to goals from Aketxe in the first half and Stoichkov in the second half.

The game began to swing in Los Armeros’ favour in the 24th minute, when Cristian galloped down the left flank and Ager Aketxe struck from his cross to make it 1-0.

After that goal, Joseba Etxeberria’s side really started dominating the game, playing mostly in the opposition half and having several chances to increase their lead.

There was a freekick from Aketxe from over 30 metres out which Lizoain pushed away for a corner in the 33th minute, a cross-shot from Quique which was blocked by the keeper in the 34th minute and a high strike from Quique following a counter-attack led by Mario.

Eibar did not get off to a good start in the second half, as Cartagena equalised through Juan Carlos in the 47th minute.

Then, during a wild start to the second period, Jairo was sent off in the 57th minute for a tough tackle on Soriano, before Stoichkov made it 2-1 in the 65th minute after a pass from Matheus following an individual move by Corpas.

After the goal, the game stabilised. Eibar maintained control and even had the chance to increase their lead. These three points now put the team in mid-table.
