REPORT. Eibar fall to narrow Leganés defeat despite dominant display (0-1)
The Armeros dominated at Ipurua but couldn’t find the all-important goal
Eibar fell to a home defeat to Leganés at Ipurua on Sunday afternoon.
Juliás Chicco’s goal in the 33rd minute proved the difference between the two teams. The Leganés midfielder was put through on goal before slotting the ball high into the net.
Eibar dominated the encounter, racking up 10 efforts on goal to Leganés’ one in each half, with the final shot total ending at 20 for the Armeros and two for their visitors.
But Eibar couldn’t find the goal they needed to get on level terms, despite Ángel Troncho coming close with a header right at the end of the game.
Stoichkov also came close after some nice link-up play with Mario Soriano 10 minutes from time, but he was denied in what was a frustrating afternoon for the Armeros.
Eibar also lost Venancio and Matheus to injury during the clash, with Arbilla and Vencedor called into action to deputize.
Attention now turns to a clash with Burgos away from home next weekend, when Eibar will go in search of their second win of the campaign.
