Bigas: "Right from the off I was in no doubt that Eibar was the right place for me to come and play"

The Majorca-born stopper, who was today unveiled as an Armeros player, joins on a loan deal from UD Las Palmas with a purchase option

Pedro Bigas, who was today presented to the media as an SD Eibar player, has revealed that "Right from the off I was in no doubt that Eibar was the right place for me to come and play".

Bigas, who was joined at his unveiling by Eibar's director of football, Fran Garagarza, has completed a season-long loan switch from UD Las Palmas, with the option for Eibar to purchase the defender if the club retains its top-flight status.

The defender declared that "I'm raring to get down to work and to improve every day, I'm really excited".

"I'll be giving my all towards our main target, which is safety, and after that, why not dream of bigger things? I've mentioned securing our safety because that's the first thing we have to do. There's more than enough potential within the squad here to be finish far higher up the table and the players here have shown that year in, year out".

Bigas pointed out that from an outsider's perspective, Eibar looks to be "a very healthy club, with an incredible squad, who give their all for this shirt. I can relate to that and I was really looking forward to being here. I've got a lot to offer and those who are here can really help me".

"The standard of the team is very high and I'll have to put in a lot of effort to prove to the gaffer that I'm capable of playing. Mendilibar is someone who inspires my trust, he makes you feel comfortable and has welcomed me in warmly right from the word go. He doesn't let anyone let up for even a second, with high-intensity sessions and you can see that out on the pitch in the games".

As for his personal targets, Bigas revealed that he's aiming to "play as many games as I can, that's what I'm focusing on". I didn't play as much as I would have liked to last season. I'm sure that I'll be able to get some game time here".

Meanwhile, Garagarza commented that "We've got the player that we wanted to get. "He's sought-after and has a very specific profile that's very hard to find within the Spanish market".

"We've signed a player who can come in and make an immediate impact. One of Pedro's biggest assets is his versatility. Our playing style suits his profile. Having a left-footed centre-back who was born in 1990 and who knows LaLiga and his new Eibar teammates is very significant.

In view of the fact that this deal saw Christian Rivera move to Las Palmas, Garagarza stated that "Since I've been in the role, this has been the most complicated deal of them all, with six  different parties involved (intermediaries, clubs, players...)".
