SD Eibar and Beñat San José have reached an agreement to extend the contract of the coach from San Sebastián until June 30, 2027. The club is committed to the continuity of a coach who has transformed the team since his arrival midway through the 2024-25 season, consolidating a sports project that has come close to the LaLiga Hypermotion playoffs after achieving a historic record in the second half of the current season.

Beñat San José has taken Eibar to heights never before reached. With 43 points earned in the last 20 matches of the current campaign, the team has surpassed its best historical points record in a single half-season, beating the 41 points achieved in the 2021-22 campaign and the 39 points from the 2023-24 season and the historic 2013-14 season of promotion to the First Division. This milestone reflects the solidity of the coaching staff's work and the team's response to a style of play that resonates with Ipurua.

In a season and a half at the helm of the team, Beñat San José has managed 60 matches with a record of 27 wins, 17 draws, and 16 losses. His numbers make him one of the coaches with the highest win percentage in SD Eibar's history, with 45% victories.

San José arrived at Ipurua in February 2025 with extensive international experience that includes stints in Saudi Arabia, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, and Belgium.
