Álvaro Rodríguez: "We have a duty away and we must add at El Plantío so that the ones at home are worth even more"
SD Eibar visits Burgos CF on Saturday at 18:30, with the goal and obligation to transfer their solidity to away games.
Reinforcement with victories, but without making mistakes: "Yes, motivated and with more confidence, obviously. We have started this year very well and we are also finishing it very well, and these victories are reinforcing the work we were already doing. As I said the other day after the match, without getting confused or thinking we are more than we are, because this category shows that it can hit you at any moment. So we have to keep working in the same way and surely the results will come."
The category speaks: "Yes, once again I talk about the category, not as a cliché, but because it is the truth. You can beat a rival that perhaps has more stature, like Valladolid, in a clearer way, because that match turns out that way, and the next one is much harder and becomes very difficult from the beginning. But well, the important thing, as you said, is that I think we played both matches in a very serious way. In one, we were able to win more clearly, and in the other, we had to work much harder; in the end, with a penalty, it cost us a lot, but the points are worth the same, and that is the key."
Continuity in work: "There hasn't been a specific click, but rather continuing to believe in what we were doing. It's true that the results weren't coming, and we surely had to adjust certain things, especially in terms of making fewer mistakes that we shouldn't make. But it's also true that the team has continued working exactly the same and believing in the idea from the beginning. We have focused a lot on trying not to concede goals; for example, the day against Córdoba, although it was a 0-0 draw and maybe we didn't have too many opportunities, we kept a clean sheet, and it was a positive day. From there, the team has been growing."
A challenge to face with the same work: "We have to score points away, it's evident; it's a challenge we have, not a thorn, but a sword stuck, because we are not getting good results away. But I think the path has to be to do the same work and face the matches the same way we are facing them at home. Obviously, in Ipurua, we feel stronger, that cannot be denied. And this week, we have a nice challenge against a team that, although maybe this year they are not as strong at home as in other seasons, historically, it is very difficult to get points there. We are going to try with everything."
The key away from home: maintaining conviction and game mentality: "Yes, I truly believe that it is not a specific click, nor a change in the way of playing, nor a tactical aspect; it is simply being just as convinced away from home as at home. That is our job. Mental, perhaps, I don't know how to express it, but we approach football, the match away from home and at home, exactly the same. Then the matches, obviously, take you where they want, and if we get a blow like the one we had the other day at home, we have to try to recover in the same way. Hopefully, it won't happen, hopefully, we won't have to face any blow, but with that support from the fans that we know will come, that will support us from Eibar, and that we will be very well backed, if that blow comes, it will be much easier to recover."
Returning to Burgos, a trip full of affection and memories: "It is very special. It is a club I have a lot of affection for, a city I have a lot of affection for. I went to El Plantío this year as a fan to see some of the teammates who are still there from when I was there, and well, it's no secret that I have a lot of appreciation for that club. Going back is always special, hopefully with a good result for Eibar and, from there, I wish them the best of luck."
The opponent: "Well, maybe they are not having such good results at home, but the reality is that two weeks ago they were in the playoffs, and maybe without those good results at home, as they had in other seasons when it seemed impossible to get a point from El Plantío. I see Ramis's team as a very serious team, like all of Ramis's teams and like all of Burgos; especially at home, in the end, it is always a very compact team, very difficult to beat. We are going to try with all our weapons and try to take the points from there."
Scoring gives confidence, but the role is different: "It gives me confidence, obviously. What happens is that I try not to get confused: my role in the team has to be different. When the team is set up in attack, as we were the other day, and I see spaces, I have the freedom to go there and, yes, as happened to me the other day, try to score. But my role should not be confused; it has to be to give security to the team in defense, contribute in attack as much as I can, and, tactically, be organized in what the team asks of me. Yes, it gives me confidence, of course, but it gives me confidence so that my basics remain good and hopefully can be better."
Matches are decided in details: "Hopefully, we can have a comfortable victory, but it is almost impossible at El Plantío. I imagine a long match, tight on the scoreboard, and, as in almost all away matches, it will surely be decided in a second play, a set piece, or some detail that is not so much related to the game plan. That is why we must remain stable, counteract what they have, which is a lot and is enhanced in their field, and from there bring our weapons and do as much damage as possible."
An area to improve: "Yes, I also tell you that we try not to let it become an obsession right now because we don't feel like a very different team away from home than at home. We have played matches where we believe we deserved more, maybe even more than sometimes at home. The season is going that way; it is not an obsession, but it is evident that we have an area to improve and that we must earn points away so that the points at home are worth even more."
