The most noteworthy elements to come out of today's 1-1 friendly draw between SD Eibar and Sporting Gijón, staged in the Cantabrian town of Barreda, were the high tempo at which the game was played and the debuts made by the club's latest three signings (Anaitz Arbilla, Fran Rico and Nano).

Both sides produced committed performances in what was a useful run-out in a week during which there is no league action.

The Armeros' new signings slotted in well, despite having barely trained with their new teammates.

The first half was an even affair, but after the restart it was José Luis Mendilibar's men who dominated proceedings and looked dangerous going forward.

With 59 minutes on the clock, Adrián met an inviting Sergi Enrich cross from the right, but his headed effort was kept out by the well-placed Diego Mariño.

Four minutes later, Inui and Nano linked up excellently to send the Canary Islander clean through on goal, but he was unable to finish.

Despite Eibar having the upper hand, it was Sporting who took the lead with their only chance of the game courtesy of a fine piece of individual play from Borja Viguera in the 78th minute.

The Armeros kept plugging away and they found an equaliser on 83 minutes. Inui sent in a cross from the right and Adrián was on hand to restore parity with a diving header.
